The Teal Appeal May 31, 2016 14:08

Stunning shades of navy, aqua, teal and turquoise are turning heads this season. Here’s our new lust-haves and how you can wear this colour too…

For a fresh take on a signature black smokey eye, try this brighter rimmed look. To get the smouldering effect, apply a dark shimmering shadow to the outer edges of your eyes then use a bright turquoise shade to highlight the tear duct and lower lash line. By applying a heavier colour on the outer corners you’ll successfully create an eye lifting effect too.

EXPERT TIP: If you’re more a no-make-up or very-little make-up kind of girl, a swipe of standout blue liner on the top lid is perfect for you. Whether you use a shadow or pencil, the key is to stay as close to the lash line as possible and trace a thin line from the inner to the outer corner.

The trick to wearing a blue hue all over your lid is to gradually fade it out when blending past your eyelid crease. If you saturate your lids in colour up to the brow bone, the look can quickly start to resemble an 80s pop star which, unless it’s for fancy dress, isn’t desirable! To pull this off with ease, blend colour from the lid up to just past the crease, then use a neutral beige shadow as a toner to dilute the teal hue and blend to just a wash of colour.

EXPERT TIP: Prep the eyelid with matte-finish concealer just before applying eyeshadow. This guarantees a smooth, even application and will neutralise any red of blue discolouration.
