MADÉ Aroha Pounamu Necklace
$195.00
Aroha
Aroha is one of the most powerful words in te reo Māori. It speaks of love, compassion, empathy and deep connection. It is not simply a feeling, but a way of moving through the world with generosity and care for others.
This piece reflects that spirit. A bold 304 stainless steel Cuban link chain in silver anchors the design, giving it a confident and modern presence. Suspended from the chain is a striking piece of pounamu sourced from the riverbeds of the West Coast of the South Island of Aotearoa New Zealand. The cool strength of steel meets the natural depth of greenstone, creating a balance between contemporary design and the enduring beauty of the natural world.
Pounamu is shaped by river, stone and time. Each piece carries its own colour, markings and character depending on the river from which it was formed. Because of this, no two stones are ever identical. The piece shown represents the design, however every necklace will have its own unique tone and pattern, ranging from soft light greens through to deep forest hues.
Crafted with stainless steel findings for durability, Aroha is designed to be worn often and to become part of the wearer’s own story. Strong yet meaningful, it is a piece that holds both presence and sentiment.

About Pounamu
Pounamu, often known as New Zealand greenstone, is a treasured stone of deep cultural significance to Māori. Found primarily in the rivers and mountains of Te Wai Pounamu, the South Island of Aotearoa New Zealand, it has been valued for centuries as a taonga representing strength, connection and enduring relationships.
Traditionally, pounamu is gifted rather than purchased for oneself, as it is believed to carry the energy and intention of the giver. When a piece is given, it becomes a symbol of respect, protection and lasting connection between people.
Each stone is formed naturally within the earth and shaped over time by river and landscape. Because of this, every piece of pounamu has its own character, colour and markings. No two are ever identical.
The pounamu used in this piece has been sourced from riverbeds on the West Coast of the South Island. The colour may range from soft, translucent greens through to deeper forest tones depending on the individual stone.
We honour the cultural significance of pounamu and present it with respect, acknowledging its place as a taonga within Aotearoa.
