Summer colour doesn’t have to mean blonder
Glossy brunette, creamy blonde, a little copper. There is more than one way to catch the light.
Somewhere along the way, summer hair became shorthand for more blonde. A few extra foils, brighter ends, perhaps another photograph of someone whose hair looks suspiciously good after a day at the beach.
There is nothing wrong with going lighter. We love a beautiful blonde. But if you love being brunette, enjoy your copper or would simply like your current colour to look better, summer offers plenty of possibilities. The question is what will make your colour feel fresh when the coats come off and you spend more time outside.
Brunette in the sunlight

A beautiful brunette has detail. That might be a rich chocolate base with a softer edge around the face, a little caramel woven through the lengths or a deep brown whose appeal is its shine.
For summer, the trick is choosing where the light belongs. A few carefully placed lighter pieces can give movement to a haircut without changing its whole identity. Equally, a tonal refresh may be enough if the ends have faded or the colour has started looking flat.
You do not need to become substantially lighter to make brunette feel different. Sometimes the loveliest result is simply a brown that looks considered from roots to ends.
Blonde with a softer finish

Creamy beige, soft gold and finely blended highlights offer a gentler way to wear blonde. The right balance depends on your skin tone, your existing colour and how you like to look without makeup as much as with it.
If you already have plenty of lightness, the next appointment may be about refining the tone or putting back a little depth. Blonde needs contrast to show its detail, and more lightener is not always what will make it look better.
Bring the photographs you love, but also tell us what you would rather avoid. Too warm, too cool, too bright around the face: those details help us find the blonde you actually want to wear.
Copper that still looks rich

Copper can look glorious with summer clothes and a little sunlight. Its character changes with the balance of red, gold and depth, from a softer auburn to a brighter, more expressive finish.
It deserves a maintenance conversation, too. A shade that looks wonderful when you leave the salon needs care between visits. We can help you choose an approach that fits both the colour you love and the effort you want to give it.
When a glaze makes sense

A colour appointment does not always need to involve fresh lightening. Shinefinity is a colour glaze with no lift, which means it can refine tone and add depth without making hair lighter. It can be useful for refreshing existing colour or exploring a subtle tonal change.
It is not interchangeable with highlights, and it will not turn a dark base blonde. The starting colour still matters. That is why the consultation comes before the formula.
