5 New Hair Colours to Try This Summer November 9, 2016 11:49
A new season is upon us and with it, an opportunity for you to update your hair look.
Nothing crazy. Just a little hair colour refresh to update your look for the warmer months ahead.
Redken Artistic team member, Owner of Morgan & Morgan & Colour Director, Jennifer Morgan has a couple of key colour trends to take you into summer
So as November showers pass and the sun shines down you might want to consider something brighter, lighter and fresh
BRONZE OMBRÉ
If your hair is on the dark side and high-maintenance hues aren't really your thing, Jennifer recommends going with two or three slightly lighter complementary colors.
Think of it as ombré but with deeper shades "blended through the middle and slightly lighter ones on the ends and around the face, which keeps color away from new growth to minimize upkeep."
HONEY BLONDE
If your natural colour is brunette and the idea of blonde is not really your thing, try softening your natural color with amber to honey highlights
BABY-LIGHT BLONDE
If you've already jumped on the blonde bandwagon or are a naturally lighter or golden hue, Jennifer recommends this season going even brighter. Specifically, she says lightening up with "strategically placed baby blond highlights around the face and crown."
Think of the way children hair lightens up and is highlighted where the sun hits
CREAMY PLATINUM BLONDE
Higher on the up-keep scale but ultimately the sexiest and most dramatic of the blondes is a creamy platinum blond. Depending on your skin tone, this high impact blonde can be toned warm, neutral or cool to suit
SILVER BLONDE
A progression for summer from this winter's 'grey' trend, over the summer expect to see a fresh modern summer look with light silver blonde
For maximum impact a full head of light will create the more dramatic effect, but just son trend and equally as pretty a soft silver glaze can be added to your regular highlights
LOW-KEY BRIGHTS
After winters myriad of rainbow-bright technicolor and deep intense pastel, 'colour' isn't going anywhere but for the summer months expect to see a softer more subdued wave of bold color.
Mint, lilac, pink, peach and even blue are now mainstream and a common sight even in the most conservative areas of society...but for summer the tones are more muted and dusty or low-key
SUNSET REDS
Jennifer suggests updating deep winter coppers by color-matching your hair to the soft shades of a summer sunset. Think peaches, apricots, and rich oranges. Taking a softer more ombre effect incorporates the more modern seamless blends of colour with these beautiful rich tones
